Box Score TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's soccer team scored three first half goals, as the team defeated George Fox, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon on East Field.
The Loggers (11-2-2, 8-1-2 NWC), coming off their first loss in 12 games, took control of the game from the opening whistle. In the fourth minute, Emma Donckels sent a beautiful through ball, which Grayson Williams-Krebs was able to run on to. Williams-Krebs used her first touch to take a shot, which just avoided the Bruin (3-9-3, 3-6-2 NWC) goalkeeper's fingertips, as it found the back of the net. The goal was the eighth of the year for the senior.
Puget Sound was not satisfied with its one goal lead, and continued to press for a bigger advantage. Emily Prasil gave them that in the 26th minute. Williams-Krebs took a free kick from just outside the box. George Fox goalkeeper, Morgan Bars, made a great save, but Prasil fought for the rebound, and was able to sneak the ball into the net.
In the 40th minute, Veronica Chung had the ball on the left flank. She put a cross into the middle of the field, where Kendra Elderkin was waiting to head the ball into the back of the net for her second goal of the year, and send the Loggers into halftime with a 3-0 lead. The Loggers added a fourth goal in the 50th minute, when Jacquelyn Anderson finished a Williams-Krebs assist. George Fox outshot the Loggers, 3-0, in the final 10 minutes, but the home team managed the game well, and earned the shutout victory.
The Loggers outshot the Bruins, 12-11, and also took more corner kicks (4-3). Goalkeeper Lauren Thomas (11-2-2) played all 90 minutes, making three saves. Williams-Krebs led the Loggers with three shots.
Puget Sound's next match will be Sunday, October 23, when the team hosts Pacific. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
