Anderson, Thomas lead Loggers to 1-0 win over Willamette

TACOMA, WashingtonJacquelyn Anderson scored on a penalty kick and Lauren Thomas saved a penalty kick as the Puget Sound women's soccer team defeated Willamette, 1-0, on Peyton Field Saturday afternoon.

Annie Prickett drew a foul in the box in the 21st minute to set up Anderson's penalty kick goal. The junior from Renton, Washington, buried the shot for her sixth goal of the season for the Loggers (12-2-3, 9-1-3 NWC)

Just six minutes later, Willamette (8-7-2, 5-6-2 NWC) was awarded a penalty kick on the other end of the field. The Bearcats' Liz Stewart tried to push one through on the right side, but Thomas made the diving save to preserve her 10th shutout of the year.

Puget Sound remains at home to play Linfield on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 12 p.m.
