Box Score TACOMA, Washington – Kristen Lane recorded her seventh double-double of the season, and Hannah Stinson posted double-digit kills for the 14th time this fall, but the Puget Sound volleyball team lost to Whitworth, 3-1 (25-23, 14-25, 25-15, 25-17), in Memorial Fieldhouse on Friday night.
The Puget Sound Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in conjunction with the Logger volleyball team, raised $278 for the Carol Milgard Breast Center in Tacoma as part of the evening's Dig Pink campaign.
Lane recorded 10 kills and 15 digs during the loss, while Stinson led the Loggers with 11 kills.
After dropping the first set, 25-23, the Loggers (14-7, 9-4 NWC) rallied for a dominant second-set win, 25-14. Early kills by Stinson, Lane, and Katie Race set the tone for Puget Sound as it jumped out to a 3-0 lead. After opening the set with three consecutive points, the Loggers closed the set with three straight points thanks to consecutive kills from Katarina Moffett and a clinching kill by Lane.
The Loggers were more efficient than Whitworth (18-5, 12-1 NWC) on offense, tallying a .245 hitting percentage to the Pirates' .212.
The Loggers host Whitman on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 5 p.m. for the final home match of the regular season. Puget Sound will honor its two senior captains, Kristen Lane and Riley Lawrence, before the start of the game.
