Box Score TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team went the distance against Whitman, but the Loggers came up short, 3-2 (25-19, 22-25, 25-19, 15-25, 15-13), in Memorial Fieldhouse on Saturday night.
Prior to the start of the game, Puget Sound honored its two senior captains – Kristen Lane and Riley Lawrence – who played in their final game in Memorial Fieldhouse.
The Loggers (14-8, 9-5 NWC) broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth set with a 3-0 run. Whitman (10-12, 7-7 NWC) committed a couple of errors and Katie Rice tallied a kill to give Puget Sound a 5-2 edge.
Whitman evened the score, 9-9, but the Loggers regained control with a 4-0 run. Katarina Moffett started the stretch with a kill, and Lane followed with consecutive kills. A kill by Hannah Stinson increased the Logger lead to 13-9.
Whitman finished the game on a 6-0 run.
Rita Dexter led Puget Sound with 10 kills, and Rachael Garrison finished with a team-high 23 digs. Renee led the Loggers with 27 assists, followed by Moira McVicar with 22.
The Loggers next play at George Fox on Friday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m.
