Box Score TACOMA, Washington – On Senior Day, the Puget Sound women's soccer team defeated Linfield, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon. Bailey Edwards and Gabbie Berg scored for the Loggers.
Before the match, the six Logger seniors were honored for their contributions to the team. The group is made of Emily Prasil, Annie Prickett, Bailey Edwards, Grayson Williams-Krebs, Emma Donckels, and Lauren Thomas.
The first half was a fairly even affair, with each team exchanging shots through the first 40 minutes. In the 40th minute, Gabbie Berg had the ball on the right side of the box. She executed a perfect give-and-go with Grayson Williams-Krebs, and received the ball back with room to take a shot. The freshman was able to find the back of the net for her first career goal.
The Loggers (13-2-3, 10-1-3 NWC) took control of the match in the second half. The team doubled its lead in the 53rd minute when senior Bailey Edwards headed in a Val Reinhardt corner kick. Puget Sound outshot Linfield (5-9-3, 5-5-3 NWC) 5-0 in period.
The Loggers outshot the Wildcats, 8-5, and also took more corner kicks (4-1). Goalkeeper Lauren Thomas (13-2-3) played all 90 minutes, making two saves. Williams-Krebs led the Loggers with two shots, while six other players took shots.
The seniors who were honored before the match finished out their home careers on Sunday with a victory, moving their four-year home record to 35-0-3.
Puget Sound's next match will be Wednesday, November 2, when the team travels to Pacific Lutheran. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
