Prewitt's career-high 25 points leads Loggers to win over Linfield

TACOMA, Washington – Elizabeth Prewitt netted a career-high 25 points as the Puget Sound women's basketball team opened its Northwest Conference season with an 86-69 win over Linfield in Memorial Fieldhouse on Friday night.

Prewitt, a sophomore from Snoqualmie, Washington, shot 11-for-17 from the floor and added seven rebounds. She surpassed he previous career-high mark of 20 points (vs. Nebraska-Wesleyan) when she put back an offensive rebounds just before the final buzzer in the third quarter.

The Loggers (5-0, 1-0 NWC) held a 10-5 lead five minutes into the first quarter, but they blew past Linfield (3-3, 0-1 NWC) in the final five minutes to close out the quarter with a 27-12 edge. Puget Sound carried a 47-35 advantage into halftime.

Alexis Noren scored 17 points, grabbed seven boards, and dished out four assists for Puget Sound. Samone Jackson and Drew Clark chipped in 11 points apiece. Claire Fitzgerald scored nine points, including six in the first quarter, to go along with seven rebounds.

The Loggers shot 48.6 percent from the field and held the Wildcats to 41.0 percent. Puget Sound won the battle on the glass, 48-36.

Puget Sound hosts familiar nemesis No. 8 George Fox on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m.
