Box Score McMINNVILLE, Oregon – Puget Sound women's basketball head coach Loree Payne earned her 100th career victory with the Maroon & White as the Loggers beat Linfield, 84-67, on Friday night.
Payne reaches the century mark in just her sixth season with Puget Sound. Overall, she has a record of 100-54 (.649).
Puget Sound (15-7, 10-3 NWC) held a 39-34 lead at halftime, but the Loggers dominated the Wildcats (12-11, 5-9 NWC) in the third quarter, 31-9, en route to their seventh victory in eight games.
Emily Sheldon led all players with 23 points and Elizabeth Prewitt came up one point shy of tying her season-high. Sheldon shot 9-for-16 from the floor and came up one rebound short of a double-double. Prewitt netted 18 points and shot 7-for-14, including a season-best four 3-pointers on seven attempts.
Alexis Noren totaled 13 points, six boards, and four steals. Samone Jackson added 10 points in the win. Puget Sound assisted on 18 of its 32 baskets, and it finished with a 47.8 field-goal percentage.
The Loggers maintain their hold on second place in the Northwest Conference, and they play at Pacific on Saturday, Feb. 13, starting at 4 p.m.
