Lunt records 150th career win as the Loggers beat the Wildcats

McMINNVILLE, Oregon – Puget Sound men's basketball head coach Justin Lunt earned his 150th career win with the Loggers thanks to a 71-68 victory at Linfield on Friday night. Lunt, who is in his 10th season at Puget Sound, improves his overall record to 150-109 (.579).

Carlos Mancasola's 3-pointer with 1:25 left in the second half broke a 66-66 tie, and Kohl Meyer hit a jumper in the late seconds put the game way for the Loggers (13-9, 8-5).

Puget Sound held a 35-34 over Linfield (10-13, 4-10) at halftime, although the Wildcats shot 50-percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes, while the Loggers shot 42.9 percent. Mancasola scored 15 of his game-high 22 points in the second half, and Kyle King netted 10 of his 12 points in the final period. Mancasola shot 5-for-7 from 3-point range for the game.

Keith Shattuck netted 12 points on a near-perfect night of shooting. The senior went 4-for-4 from the floor, 3-for-3 from distance, and 1-for-2 from the charity stripe.

In addition to its offensive resurgence in the second half, the Puget Sound defense held Linfield to 39.2 percent shooting in the last 20 minutes.

The Loggers are tied for third place in the Northwest Conference as they head to Pacific for a 6 p.m. tipoff against the Boxers on Saturday, Feb. 13.
