Box Score TACOMA, Washington – It's déjà vu all over again. The Puget Sound women's basketball team secured the No. 2 seed of the Northwest Conference Tournament for the second consecutive season with an 82-59 triumph over Whitworth in Memorial Fieldhouse on Friday night. Puget Sound's third-straight postseason run starts at home on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m.

The Loggers (17-7, 12-3 NWC) wore pink socks and the gym was decorated with pink streamers and balloons as part of Think Pink Night. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee was on hand to collect donations for the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Tacoma. Puget Sound also honored long-time assistant coach Joleen LaMay prior to Friday's tipoff. LaMay continues to inspire her team and colleagues every day in her battle against breast cancer.
Emily Sheldon led all players with 25 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Samone Jackson netted 16 points and dished out six assists, while Alexis Noren added 15 points and five boards.
The Loggers held a commanding 44-20 lead over the Pirates (14-10, 9-6 NWC) at halftime. Puget Sound shot 58.1 percent from the floor and held the Pirates to just under 30 percent (29.6) through the first 20 minutes. For the game, Puget Sound shot just a hair under 50 percent (49.2) while assisting on 19 of its 29 made baskets.
The Loggers close out the regular season at home against Whitman on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 4 p.m. Prior to tipoff, the Loggers will honor their three senior members: Emily Sheldon, Allie Wyszysnki, and team manager Tori Bridges.
