Box Score PORTLAND, Oregon – Jimmy Wohrer dropped a career-high 22 points, as the Puget Sound men's basketball team defeated Lewis & Clark, 76-69, on Friday evening.
Wohrer was a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor and 5-for-5 from beyond the 3-point line. Kohl Meyer scored 15 points, while Carlos Mancasola chipped in 13 points. Andre Lewis added 11 points.
The Loggers (12-8, 7-4 NWC) and Pioneers (7-12, 3-8 NWC) played a close game, trading baskets. Puget Sound was trailing 53-50 with 10:32 left in the second half when Wohrer made three-consecutive baskets and a free throw to give the visiting team a 60-53 lead. The freshman's scoring spree sparked a run for the Loggers, who would never trail again in the game.
Puget Sound shot 46.3 percent (25-for-54) from the field, while the Pioneers shot 40.6 percent (26-for-64). The Loggers were 9-for-25 (36.0 percent) from beyond the arc, while Lewis & Clark was 7-for-26 (26.9 percent) on 3-pointers. Puget Sound was outrebounded by the Pioneers, 31-27.
Puget Sound will next travel to Willamette on Saturday, February 6. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
