First half hat-trick secures Loggers win

WALLA WALLA, Washington- The Puget Sound women's soccer team netted three goals in the first half, securing their 3-1 win over Whitman in Walla Walla, Sunday afternoon

Genevieve Cheatham notched the Loggers first goal when she dribbled through two defenders and netted the ball in the fourth minute. This was Cheatham's second goal of the weekend, and third of the season.

The Loggers secured their second goal in the sixth minute when Jacquelyn Anderson placed a pass from Tayla MacPherson in the back of the net.

MacPherson recorded a goal of her own in the 28th minute when she dribbled into the box and slotted the ball into the top left corner of the goal.

Whitman finally got on the board in the 73rd minute when Emily Rigsby beat Puget Sound's final defense, closing the deficit to, 3-1.

The Loggers return home to take on Willamette Saturday, Oct. 7, at 12 p.m.
