Dexter totals 12 kills in loss at Pacific Lutheran

PARKLAND, WashingtonRita Dexter finished with double-digit kills for the fifth consecutive match, but the Puget Sound volleyball team lost at Pacific Lutheran, 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-20), Wednesday night.

Dexter totaled 12 kills, four blocks, and a service ace for the Loggers (10-12, 7-8 NWC). The Lutes (19-4, 13-2 NWC) hit just .194 on the night, but they limited the Loggers to a .124 attack percentage.

After losing by nine points in the first set, Puget Sound kept pace in the second frame. The Loggers trailed, 9-7, when a kill by Kristen Miguel sparked a 5-0 run. Katarina Moffett followed with a service ace, and two errors plus another Miguel kill gave the Loggers a 12-9 lead.

Pacific Lutheran led late, 23-21, but a kill by Miguel brought the Loggers to within a point. However, the Lutes notched the next two points to win the set.

By the end of the night, Rachael Garrison led the Loggers with 20 digs, and Moira McVicar added a team-high 29 assists.

Puget Sound wraps up the 2017 season at Lewis & Clark on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m.
