Loggers fall short against Linfield, 2-1

TACOMA, Washington –  The Puget Sound women's soccer team out-shot Linfield, 17-16, but the Wildcats' two first half goals sealed their 2-1 victory over the Loggers Saturday afternoon on Peyton Field.

Linfield came out strong in the first half, scoring its first goal in the 23rd minute, and the second goal in the 43rd minute.

The Loggers continued to fight and got on the board in the 67th minute when forward Lura Morton netted a cross from Tess Peppis. Morton recorded her second goal of the season.

The Loggers documented three more shots in the final 20 minutes, but fell short on capturing the equalizer.

Goalkeeper Jamie Lange recorded eight saves, including one in the 87th minute to keep the Loggers within striking distance.

Puget Sound remains at home to take on George Fox on Sunday, Sept. 17, a 12 p.m.
