TACOMA, Washington –The Puget Sound women's soccer team's two first-half goals led them to a 2-1 victory over George Fox on Sunday afternoon on Peyton Field.

Midfielder Tayla MacPherson struck early in the fifth minute, netting her first shot of the game from roughly 20 yards out.

Ten minutes later MacPherson penetrated the Bruins final third again, serving a ball across the face of the goal, ricocheting into the net off a George Fox defender. The Bruins' own-goal leveraged the Loggers to a 2-0 lead.

Goalkeeper Jamie Lange recorded three saves in the first half, securing Puget Sound's lead into halftime.

The Bruins got on the board in the 52nd minute when midfielder Cassie Wilson found the back of the net off a free kick.

George Fox recorded three more shots in the second half, but failed to find the equalizer.

The Loggers head to Pacific Lutheran to take on the Lutes Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m.
