Loggers out-shoot undefeated Whitworth in 2-2 tie

SPOKANE, Washington- The Puget Sound women's soccer team out-shot Whitworth, 12-10, in 2-2 double overtime tie in Spokane, Saturday afternoon.

The Pirates got on the board first in the 25th minute. Leah Corral intercepted a pass between Logger defender and goalkeeper, netting the ball into the open goal, leveraging Whitworth to a 1-0 led.

Puget Sound closed the deficit in the 47th minute when Genevieve Cheatham scored the equalizer. Cheatham's goal was her second of the season.

Midfielder Kelly Wucherer found the Pirates their final goal in the 64th minute.

Whitworth had almost secured a, 2-1, win against the Loggers until forward Lura Morton scored her third goal of the season, and tied up the game, 2-2, with 18 seconds left.  

Puget Sound and Whitworth both recorded one shot in overtime, but the teams remained scoreless, concluding the game, 2-2. The Pirates were undefeated in conference play, until notching their first tie against the Loggers.

The Loggers remain on the road and battle Whitman on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 12 p.m.
