Loggers fall to nationally-ranked Lutes

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team had a third try at No. 18 Pacific Lutheran, but the Loggers fell in three sets (25-16, 25-9, 25-18) in Memorial Fieldhouse Wednesday night. The young Loggers are 0-3 against the nationally-ranked Lutes this season.

Wednesday marks just the second time this season Puget Sound has lost consecutive matches. The Loggers lost at George Fox, 3-0, Oct. 13. The last time the Loggers dropped consecutive matches was in the first two matches of the season.

PLU (16-3, 9-2 NWC) hit .429 during the match, while the Loggers (11-8, 8-3 NWC) hit just .039.

Melanie Siacotos led the Loggers in both kills (seven) and blocks (2.5). Sarah Blumenfeld tallied 10 assists, and Sydney Voss totaled 12 digs.

Puget Sound aims to regroup with another home match Friday, Oct. 19, against Lewis & Clark at 7 p.m.
