Poised Loggers outlast Lutes, 63-60

Box Score

TACOMA, Washington – Clutch plays on both ends of the floor down the stretch allowed the Puget Sound women's basketball team to come away with a 63-60 home win against Pacific Lutheran in Memorial Fieldhouse Tuesday night.

The Loggers (3-1, 1-0 NWC) and Lutes (1-2, 0-1 NWC) were tied at 55-55 when RaeAnn Allen came up with a big block, and Jamie Lange corralled the rebound. Moments later, Allen hit a go-ahead baseline jumper to give Puget Sound a 57-55 lead with 4:12 on the clock.

Following another defensive stop, Lange hit consecutive shots to cushion the lead to 61-55 with 1:34 to go. Allen and Georgia Lavinder made free-throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Allen led the scoring with 15 points, including eight in the first half. Lange finished with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Cassidy Daugherty chipped in 10 points in the win.

The Loggers and Lutes entered the game tied for the NWC lead in rebounds per game (44.0), and PLU came away with a slight 35-34 edge on the boards Tuesday night.

Puget Sound has its first conference road game at George Fox Saturday, Dec. 1, at 4 p.m.
