TACOMA, Washington – A lot has changed since Pacific Lutheran swept Puget Sound in August. That change has been for the better for the Logger volleyball team.

The Loggers outlasted the Lutes, 3-2 (25-20, 25-19, 13-25, 20-25, 15-10), in a Northwest Conference game in Memorial Fieldhouse Wednesday night. It was the Loggers' fourth consecutive five-set match. Puget Sound (10-9, 5-2 NWC) has now won four of its last five contests.

Pacific Lutheran previously beat the Loggers, 3-0, during the Puget Sound Premiere (Aug. 31).

A key difference Wednesday night was the Loggers' 10 total blocks, while Pacific Lutheran (11-8, 4-3 NWC) managed eight. The Lutes entered the game as the NWC's leader in blocks per set.

The Loggers held PLU to a .135 hitting percentage, while Puget Sound posted a .161 mark. Both teams finished with 11 service aces.

PLU opened the fifth set with a 3-1 lead, but a service error followed by two kills from Sadie Alloway tied the score. Those three consecutive points were the start an 8-2 run by Puget Sound.

The Lutes never got closer than a two-point deficit for the rest of the fifth set, which ended with a Katherine Carley service ace.

Jordan Holman finished with a team-high 10 kills, while Carley and Alli Reviglio each added nine. Sarah Blumenfeld came away with 21 assists and 10 digs.

Puget Sound returns to Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday, Oct. 12, when the Loggers host Linfield for a 6 p.m. NWC bout.
