Berg scores twice to lift Loggers over Bruins

Box Score

NEWBERG, Oregon - Gabbie Berg scored twice to lift the No. 23 Puget Sound women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over George Fox on Sunday afternoon.

With the victory, the Loggers improve to 7-2-1 overall and 5-0-1 in conference. The Bruins fall to 3-5-1 overall and 1-5 in NWC.

After a scoreless first half, Berg erupted in the 56th minute stealing a pass from the keeper and finding the back of net. Ten minutes later, Berg scored her fourth goal of the season striking a rebound off the keeper to increase the Logger lead.

One minute later, the Bruins would shorten the lead, 2-1, off a free kick. But the Logger's defense kept George Fox off the board for the remainder of the contest.

Chaylea Tome had two saves in the contest for Puget Sound.

Puget Sound hosts Pacific Lutheran for a midweek game on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m.
