TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team totaled 10 blocks and 68 digs to stifle the best-hitting team in the Northwest Conference and beat Pacific, 3-1 (25-21, 25-10, 23-25, 25-22), in Memorial Fieldhouse Friday night.

The Boxers (16-7, 9-4 NWC) entered the contest as the only NWC team hitting above .200 with a .222 mark. However, the Loggers (14-11, 9-4 NWC) limited the Boxers to just a .061 attack percentage.

On the flip side, Puget Sound attacked at a .176 clip. Three Loggers posted double-digit kills: Jordan Holman and Katherine Carley both had 11, while Tallie Davison finished with a game-high 12 kills.

Chloe Akiona-Bannan led all players with 20 digs, and Melanie Siacotos had a match-high 4.5 blocks.

Puget Sound was cruising through the first two sets, until Pacific finally broke through to win the third.

The Loggers raced out to a 4-1 lead in the fourth set, but the Boxers quickly took a 7-5 lead. Neither team led by more than two points until a kill by Alli Reviglio followed by a Carley ace gave the Loggers a 16-13 advantage.

Pacific went on a 5-0 read to take a two-point lead and force the Loggers to call a timeout. Out of the break, Puget Sound went on a 4-0 run, which included kills by Siacotos and Davison.

The fourth set was knotted up at 21-21 when the Loggers scored three consecutive points, including an ace by Akiona-Bannan. A kill form Jordan Holman ended the match.

The Loggers have now won five consecutive home games. Puget Sound concludes its home schedule by hosting George Fox Saturday, Nov. 2. at 6 p.m.
