Daugherty nets 20 points, but the Loggers lose to No. 22 Trinity (Tex.)

PARKLAND, Washington – Cassidy Daugherty scored a season-high 20 points, but the Puget Sound women's basketball team lost to No. 22 Trinity (Tex.), 70-61, in the first day of the Pacific Lutheran Holiday Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Daugherty shot 6-for-7 from 3-point range and 7-for-11 from the floor. Gia Sorn scored 14 points off the bench, and Mara Henderson finished with a game-high six assists. Jamle Lange scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Puget Sound (5-3) could not overcome its struggles in the first quarter. The Loggers shot 3-for-14 (21.4-percent) from the floor in the first 10 minutes, and they trailed 38-25 at halftime.

The Loggers had a blistering start to second half and outscored the Tigers (4-2), 27-14, in the period. Daugherty went 3-for-3 from 3-point range in the third quarter. However, Puget Sound could not maintain the momentum in the final quarter.

Puget Sound takes on Wisconsin-Oshkosh Sunday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m.
