Loggers downed by No. 9 Wheaton in season opener

WHEATON, Illinois – The Puget Sound women's soccer team let a top 10 nationally-ranked team take an early lead, and the Loggers could not overcome it in a 3-0 loss at No. 9 Wheaton Friday afternoon.

The Thunder (1-0) netted its first goal of the game just two minutes into the contest. Wheaton scored again in the 17th minute and carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Loggers opened the second half by firing off two shots in a 10-minute span. However, Ava Cholakian's bid was pushed wide, and Maiya Pacleb's shot was saved.

Puget Sound managed just two shots on goal to Wheaton's seven.

The Loggers aim to rebound against Hanover, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m. (PT). Wheaton is hosting the game.
