Women's soccer wins third straight, tops Whitworth, 3-1

Box Score

TACOMA, Washington – Three different Loggers scored to power the Puget Sound women's soccer team to its third consecutive victory with a 3-1 triumph over Whitworth on East Field Sunday afternoon.

Chaylea Tome made seven saves in the winning effort for the Loggers (4-2-0, 2-0-0 NWC).

Maiya Pacleb's first-career goal gave Puget Sound a 1-0 advantage over the Pirates (1-5-0, 0-2-0 NWC) in the 38th minute. Her shot went over the keeper's head and tucked under the cross bar.

Puget Sound carried that one-goal into the break, but it took just seven minutes into the second half for the Loggers to add to it. In the 52nd minute, Genny Jilka corralled a rebound off a Pacleb shot and buried it into the back of the net.

The Pirates broke through just three minutes later, but Puget Sound was quicker to answer.

Less than a minute after Whitworth made it a 2-1 game, CeAnn Romanaggi maneuvered down the right sideline and found Gabbie Berg with a crossing pass. Berg needed just one touch to beat the Whitworth keeper.

The Loggers are on the road for four consecutive games. The first of the four is at Linfield, Sept. 28, at 12 p.m.
