A trio of sophomores powers Loggers to five-set win

PORTLAND, Oregon – Sophomores Jordan Holman and Samantha Johnson set their own career-high marks for kills in a match to lead the Puget Sound volleyball team to a 3-2 (28-26, 21-25, 26-28, 265-19, 15-12) win at Lewis & Clark Saturday night.

Holman tallied 18 kills for the Loggers (8-8, 2-2 NWC), and Johnson added 16. Fellow sophomore Sarah Blumenfeld also had a career night, as she contributed a personal-best 43 assists.

The Loggers won a dramatic first set, 28-26, but Lewis & Clark (6-6, 2-2 NWC) won the following two sets. The Pioneers barely edged out the Loggers in the third set, 28-26. However, Puget Sound remained resilient to win the fifth set by three points.

Puget Sound continues its four-game road stretch at Pacific Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m.
