Box Score SALEM, Oregon – Five Loggers scored in double figures, including 21-point games by both John Misel and Kobe Elsner, as the Puget Sound men's basketball team beat Willamette, 93-84, Saturday night.
Elsner came away with his season high in scoring, and Misel finished two points shy of matching his season high. The Puget Sound (9-8, 3-5 NWC) freshman duo combined to shoot 13-for-22 from the floor. Misel went 5-for-6 from 3-point range.
Cal Hansen posted his third double-double of the season with 11 points and a season-high 14 rebounds. Jourdan Joseph and Jewell Day both scored 10 points in the win.
Puget Sound held a 43-36 lead at halftime, but Willamette (1-15, 0-8 NWC) fought back to take a 70-69 led with 6:27 left in regulation.
The Bearcats' lead was shortlived, however, as Misel answered right back by burying a trey. The ensuing Willamette possession ended with a turnover, and Elsner delivered a 3-pointer to push Puget Sound's lead to 75-70. The Loggers held the lead for the rest of the game.
Puget Sound returns home Friday, Jan. 31 to host No. 20 Whitworth for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
