Box Score TACOMA, Washington – Jamie Lange became the Puget Sound women's basketball program's first player to reach 1,000 rebounds and RaeAnn Allen scored a career-high 20 points as the Loggers beat Whitworth, 79-69, in Memorial Fieldhouse Friday night.
Lange entered the game with 999 career rebounds, and she reached the millennial milestone with an offensive board in the Loggers' first possession of the game. Among all nine current programs in the Northwest Conference, Lange is the third player to reach 1,000 rebounds. She totaled 17 points and 15 rebounds for her 14th double-double of the season.
Allen's previous career-high in scoring was 18 points against Willamette last year (Jan. 11, 2019). Against Whitworth, (10-8, 3-6 NWC), she shot 3-for-4 from 3-point range and 8-for-15 from the floor.
Mara Henderson scored a season-high 19 points, and she matched Allen in 3-point shooting by going 3-for-4.
Puget Sound (9-9, 3-6 NWC) trailed at halftime, 33-28, but the Loggers erupted in the second half. Allen played every minute of the third quarter, and she hit two treys in the period. Lange's layup midway through the third quarter cut the Loggers' deficit to 44-41. Puget Sound's defense followed by forcing a Whitworth turnover, and Allen then buried a game-tying 3-pointer.
The Loggers finally claimed a lead, 47-46, on a free-throw by Gia Sorn. That lead grew to four points, 50-46, when Rebekah Dasalla drilled a 3-pointer just before the end of the third quarter. Puget Sound held the lead for the rest of the game.
Puget Sound hosts No. 9 Whitman Saturday, Feb. 1, at 4 p.m.
