Box Score PARKLAND, Washington – The Puget Sound men's basketball team led by seven points midway through the second half, but the Loggers lost at Pacific Lutheran, 63-62, Tuesday night.
After a 30-30 score at halftime, Puget Sound (10-12, 4-9 NWC) opened the second half with an 8-2 run. The Loggers maintained that lead midway through the half, as a Stellan Roberts 3-pointer made it a 51-44 game.
However, Pacific Lutheran (11-11, 7-6 NWC) continued to fight and tied the game, 56-56, with 4:00 left in regulation.
Roberts quickly broke that tie score by hitting a short jumper, and the Lutes answered right back. The teams traded baskets, but a driving layup by Jourdan Joseph gave Puget Sound a 62-61 edge with just over one minute remaining.
The Lutes answered with a layup of their own, and they got the needed defensive stops down the stretch.
Cal Hansen added to his season's double-double total with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Roberts scored a team-high 20 points. John Misel chipped in with 13 points.
Puget Sound is back in Memorial Fieldhouse to host Lewis & Clark Friday, Feb. 14, at 8 p.m.
