TACOMA, Washington – Stellan Roberts and his senior classmates refused to lose. Playing in the final game of the 2019-20 season, the Puget Sound men's basketball team mounted a 94-92 comeback victory over George Fox in Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday night.

Puget Sound (12-13, 6-10 NWC) trailed the Bruins (8-17, 4-12 NWC) by eight points, 86-78, with three minutes left in regulation. And that's when Roberts put the team on his back. The senior from Portland scored 11 points in the final three minutes of the game to lift the Loggers to a season-finale victory.

Roberts drilled a 3-pointer to cut the Loggers' deficit to 86-81. Following a George Fox turnover, Roberts hit another trey to make it an 86-84 game. The Bruins briefly slowed Puget Sound's momentum with a bucket, but Roberts kept a hot hand and connected from beyond the arc yet again.

His third consecutive 3-pointer cut the Bruins' lead to 88-87 with two minutes on the clock. In its next possession George Fox made a layup, but Roberts answered right back with a runner to make a one-point game again.

After a defensive stop, John Misel was fouled and hit both free-throws to give the Loggers a 91-90 lead with 47 seconds left. On the defensive end, Cal Hansen contested a George Fox layup and Puget Sound grabbed the defensive board. 

Senior Max Basile then went to the free-throw line, where he made both attempts to ice the game.

Roberts finished with 24 points. He was one of five Loggers in double figures. Senior Jewell Day scored 14 points, and Jourdan Joseph totaled 16 off the bench. Misel came away with 13 points, and Hansen chipped in with 11.

Before tipoff, Puget Sound celebrated the Class of 2020 and loved ones: Max Basile, Jewell Day, AJ Johnson, Stellan Roberts, and Walker Shibley-Styer.
