TACOMA, Washington – Senior quarterback
Murdock Rutledge continued to etch his name at the top of the Puget Sound record books, but the Logger football team lost at home against George Fox, 49-28, Saturday afternoon.
Â
Rutledge entered Saturday's game needing just 94 passing yards to surpass Hans Fortune's school record of 6,852 career passing yards. Fortune's record fell in Tacoma as Rutledge threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns against George Fox.
Â
Last week at Pacific, Rutledge became Puget Sound's all-time leader in passing touchdowns. He currently has 63.
Â
Rutledge wasn't the only Logger to climb the ladder Saturday. Senior wideout
AJ Johnson matched Adam Kniffin's school record for most career receptions (263). Johnson totaled 10 catches for 66 yards and a touchdown against the Bruins.
Â
Izaiah Jerenz set a couple of personal records against the Bruins. He came up with 13 catches for 113 yards, and he caught a touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter.
Â
Silas Washington ran for 92 yards on 25 carries, and he scored his seventh touchdown of the season. With four games left in the season, Washington already has more rushing touchdowns than any Logger in any season in more than a decade.
Â
Puget Sound is on the road next week at Lewis & Clark, Oct. 13. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
