Eight volleyball seniors to be celebrated this weekend

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team celebrates its seniors during the final weekend at home when the Loggers host Whitworth (Oct. 29) and Whitman (Oct. 30) this weekend.

Thank you, seniors
Before the start of Saturday's 6 p.m. match against Whitman, the Loggers celebrate eight graduating student-athletes who are competing in their final collegiate contest in Memorial Fieldhouse: Sadie Alloway, Aliah Ayau, Sarah Blumenfeld, Katherine Carley, Jordan Holman, Samantha Johnson, Aaliah Largusa, and Jenna Miller.

To start a new streak
The Loggers were on a six-game winning streak before losing at home against Pacific last weekend (Oct. 22). With four matches left in the regular season, the Loggers are primed for a top-three finish in the Northwest Conference standings.

Chek it out
Katelyn Chekian had a career-high 18 kills during the four-set contest against Pacific last week. That came after a 14-kill performance in a win against Pacific Lutheran (Oct. 20). Chekian has 54 kills in her last four outings. She ranks second on the team with 160 kills this season.

The whole package
Jordan Holman leads the Loggers in kills (206) and digs (213) this season. She has eight double-doubles this season, the most recent of which was a 17-kill, 11-dig effort against Pacific (Oct. 22).

Efficiently Carley
Katherine Carley leads the Loggers in attack percentage with a .324 mark. She also has a team-high 57 blocks, and she accounts for 2.86 points per set.

The mark to hit
Puget Sound is 12-0 when it hits better than .210 this season. Overall, the Loggers' attack percentage is .185, which would be the program's highest single-season mark since 2016 (.190).

Scouting Whitworth (17-2, 12-0 NWC)
The first-place Pirates haven't lost since Sept. 11 – a non-conference match against Pomona-Pitzer. Whitworth's attack percentage is .212, and Maddie Lee leads the offensive efforts with 280 kills this season. Defensively, Kaity Barr has 87 blocks, and Cassidy Franklin has 75. Opponents are attacking at just a .109 clip against Whitworth. The Pirates beat the Loggers in four sets earlier this season (Oct. 1).

Scouting Whitman (6-15, 4-8 NWC)
The Blues enter this weekend with consecutive sweeps against Willamette and Linfield. The Blues are hitting .122 as a team, led by 127 kills from Christina Boxberger, and 125 from Kenzie Martinez. Sydney London has 58 blocks, and Sophia Dominitz has 47. The Blues lost at home against Puget Sound in four sets earlier this season (Oct. 2).
