Johnson, Rutledge set program records at Pacific

Box Score FOREST GROVE, Oregon – AJ Johnson and Murdock Rutledge set program records Saturday afternoon, but the Puget Sound football team lost at Pacific, 69-6.
 
Johnson entered the game needing 37 receiving yards to top Adam Kniffin's career record of 2,908 receiving yards. Johnson's record-breaking catch was a 12-yard hookup from Rutledge in the second play of the fourth quarter. He finished the game with nine catches for 104 yards. It was his second 100-yard game of the season.
 
Rutledge stands alone as the Loggers' all-time leader in passing touchdowns (59). He came into the game tied with Hans Fortune for the school record. The record-setting touchdown pass happened just three plays after Johnson's record-setting catch. Rutledge connected with Izaiah Jerenz for a 15-yard score.
 
Puget Sound returns home Saturday, Oct. 16, to host George Fox at 1 p.m.
