TACOMA, Washington – After opening the 2021-22 season with four consecutive home games, the Puget Sound women's basketball team heads to California where it takes on Caltech (Nov. 19) and Whittier (Nov. 21).
Home cookin'
Puget Sound lost its first game of the season against UC Santa Cruz (Nov. 5), but the Loggers won their next three games against Pomona-Pitzer, Multnomah, and Providence (Mont.). The Loggers begin the season with a 3-1 record for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
Big on the boards
Puget Sound totaled 62 rebounds in its 86-62 win over Multnomah (Nov. 12), marking the most rebounds by a Logger team since Dec. 7, 2019 (74 at Howard Payne).
Sophie Nilsson leads the team rebounding (5.5), while
Katie Minnehan and
Jordyn Reverman both average 5.0 boards per game.
Building confidence
The Loggers' 3-point attempts have increased each game, starting with 23 3-point attempts against UC Santa Cruz (Nov. 5), to 39 3-point attempts against Providence (Mont.) (Nov. 14). The 15 made 3-pointers against Providence were the most by Puget Sound in more than a decade.
Leading the way
Sophie Nilsson is Puget Sound's leading scorer with 16.3 points per game. That mark ranks second in the NWC among all players who have played more than one game.

Eight Loggers have scored at least 10 points in a game through the first four games of the season. The group includes

Scouting Caltech (2-0)
The Beavers have wins over Bethesda (76-33) and Linfield (68-56) in the early going of the season. Kathryn Edwards poured in 20 points against the Wildcats, and Sahana Saikumar added 15 points and eight rebounds.
Scouting Whittier (1-0)
The Poets' lone game this season was a 73-48 win over Antelope Valley (Nov. 13). Whittier hosts George Fox (Nov. 20) the day before taking on the Loggers. Teani White netted 30 points in Whittier's season-opener, and Daisy Cardenas added 11 points.
