No. 19/23 Loggers can clinch NWC title Wednesday

TACOMA, Washington – The Northwest Conference title is on the line when the No. 19/23 Puget Sound women's soccer team heads to Parkland, Washington to take on Pacific Lutheran Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 4 p.m.
 
Hanging in the balance
With a 12-0-2 NWC record, the Loggers are two points ahead of PLU (12-2-0 NWC) in the conference standings. The Loggers can clinch the conference title with a win Wednesday. If the game ends in a tie, or if PLU wins, then the conference crown will be decided in the final day of the regular season Saturday, Nov. 6. Then, the Loggers take on Lewis & Clark, and the Lutes take on George Fox.

Conference accolades
Following Puget Sound's senior weekend wins against Willamette and Linfield (Oct. 30-31), Kylee Roath was named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for offense, and Chaylea Tome was named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for defense. Roath scored the game-winning goal in both 1-0 decisions, while Tome's shutout total reached 14. Genny Jilka, Radhika Webster Schultz, and Kiana Serrao have also earned NWC honors this fall.

Chaylea Tome leads all NCAA D-III goalies in shutouts (14) and goals-against average (0.163) this season.
 
Pick your poison
Kylee Roath leads the Loggers in scoring with eight goals, while Genny Jilka and Radhika Webster Schultz both have five goals. Ava Cholakian leads the team in assists with five.
 
The first meeting
Puget Sound stunned Pacific Lutheran in overtime, 1-0, in Baker Stadium earlier this season (Oct. 6). At the time, the Lutes were ranked No. 18 by United Soccer Coaches. With seconds remaining in OT, Kalina Cordero crossed a pass from the left side to Radhika Webster Schultz, who then buried the game-winner with one touch.
 
Scouting Pacific Lutheran (16-2-0, 12-2-0 NWC)
The Lutes' only other loss this season was against last-place Whitman (Oct. 17). Hannah Cecil is the team's leading scorer with seven goals, and Julia Causbie has five. Three goalies have appeared in at least four games, each. Eva Wirth leads the keepers in starts (9) and GAA (0.24).
