Men's basketball has one more tipoff before the NWC slate

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's basketball team has one more game before the Northwest Conference slate begins, and it's at Northwest Saturday, Nov. 27., at 3:30 p.m.
 
Conference nod
Paul Johnson was named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week following two games in Puget Sound's McArthur Classic (Nov. 19-20). Johnson scored 27 points against Redlands, 20 of which came in the second half. Of those 20 points, 18 were in the game's final 10 points. The game prior against Claremont-M-S, Johnson scored 19 points. Johnson ranks third in the NWC in scoring with 21.6 points per game.

The dish
Freshman point guard Taj Phillips has a team-high 18 assists, which is tied for the fourth most in the NWC. Cal Hansen closely follows with 15 assists.
 
Crashing the glass
Cal Hansen leads the Loggers in rebounding with 9.0 boards per game, and Mussie Teclemariam averages 8.7. They rank second and fourth, respectively, in the NWC. Teclemariam has two double-doubles this season, and Hansen has one.
 
Scouting Northwest (2-2)
Out of the NAIA's Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC), the Eagles are 2-2 this season. They beat a common opponent with the Loggers – Evergreen State – by a score of 89-71 (Nov. 23). The Eagles also beat Northwest Conference member Linfield, 77-73 (Nov. 13).
