TACOMA, Washington – Cal Hansen recorded his third double-double of the season, and
Taj Phillips buried a clutch 3-pointer to give the Puget Sound men's basketball team a 67-62 win over George Fox in Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday night.

Hansen finished the game with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while
Grant Erickson added 13 points six boards. Phillips matched his season-high in scoring with 10 points.

The Loggers (4-5, 1-1 NWC) trailed only once in the first half, 14-12, and they took a 31-26 lead into halftime.

George Fox (3-4, 1-1 NWC) tied the game, 33-33, just 4:30 into the second half. Ninety seconds later, the Bruins hit a 3-pointer to take a 38-36 lead. Hansen scored consecutive baskets to give the Loggers a 42-40 edge, and it was the start of a 10-2 Puget Sound run.

With 6:32 left in regulation, Erickson hit a couple of free-throws to push the lead to 54-48, but the Bruins fought back to tie the game at 54-54.

The Bruins held a 59-57 advantage with 4:42 on the clock.
Will Mathews earned a trip to the free-throw line, where he went 1-for-2. Following a defensive stop, Erickson hit a layup to give the Loggers a 60-59 lead.

The Puget Sound defense got another stop. In the Loggers' ensuing possession, there was a scramble for a rebound.
CJ Geathers eventually corralled the offensive board, kicked it out to Phillips, and the freshman hit a dagger 3-pointer to put the Loggers up, 63-59, with 1:30 left to play.

Puget Sound shot 51.1-percent from the floor – its second-best mark this season.

The Loggers' next home game is Dec. 22 when they host UC Santa Cruz.
