Loggers fall in three sets at Whitman

Box Score

WALLA WALLA, Washington – One day after getting its first win of the season at Whitman, the Puget Sound volleyball lost to the Blues in three sets.

Saturday evening got off to a promising start when the Loggers broke a 6-6 tie in the first set. The Loggers' 5-2 rally featured two kills by Jordan Holman and a service ace by Sarah Blumenfeld. The Blues overtook the lead at 14-13 and never gave it back.

With their backs against the wall in the third set, the Loggers jumped out to a 6-3 lead. The run was highlighted by another Blumenfeld ace and two kills from Melanie Siacotos.

Blumenfeld's second ace of the set gave the Loggers a 13-10 edge, but the Blues broke through for a 17-16 lead and put the set – and the match – away.

Blumenfeld finished the night with six aces, and Holman led the Loggers in kills with six.

The Loggers return home to host Pacific Lutheran, Feb. 26-27, in Memorial Fieldhouse.
