Big fourth quarter lifts Loggers over Lutes

PARKLAND, Washington – The Puget Sound women's basketball team dominated the fourth quarter, and Katie Minnehan flirted with a triple-double, as the Loggers beat Pacific Lutheran, 93-86, Saturday night.

Minnehan finished the game with 20 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Kennedy Brown scored 18 points off the bench, and Samantha Swartout scored 13 points to go with eight boards. Sofia Lavinder added 12 points in the win.

The Loggers entered the fourth quarter in a 72-64 deficit. A jumper by Brown tied the game, 78-78, less than four minutes into the final period. A pair of free-throws from Lavinder put Puget Sound ahead by two, and it quickly became a five-point edge, 83-78, lead when Minnehan converted a three-point play.

All of that was part of a 16-0 run over the course of five minutes.

Through the final 10 minutes of the game, Puget Sound missed only five shots and scored 29 points.

Puget Sound is slated for make-up games at home against Whitworth, March 7-8.
