Box Score TACOMA, Washington – In the most thrilling match of the Loggers' season, the Puget Sound volleyball beat Pacific Lutheran, 3-1, in Memorial Fieldhouse Saturday night. Two sets reached 30+ points.
Puget Sound dropped the opening set, 25-16, but it kicked things into gear in the second set. The Loggers held a 23-22 lead, but a service error allowed for the score to even up. PLU then took a 25-24 lead, but an attack error by the Lutes kept the match going.
The Loggers took a 28-27 edge on block assists by Alli Reviglio and Katherine Carley. Reviglio finally put the set away with a kill, 30-28.
The third set was even longer. The Lutes were on the brink of a win, 24-23, but a kills by Reviglio kept the Loggers in it. Melanie Siacotos also put away a couple of clutch kills when PLU had a one-point edge.
A kill from Jordan Holman gave the Loggers a 30-29 lead, and the set ended with a PLU attack error.
Puget Sound won the fourth set in slightly less dramatic fashion, 25-22.
Siacotos had 11 kills in the match, and Holman added 10. Sarah Blumenfeld has a season-high 21 assists.
The Loggers are back in Memorial Fieldhouse to host Whitman, March 5-6.
