Loggers lose to Lutes after PLU's hot start

TACOMA, Washington – Freshman Paul Johnson scored in double digits for the third time through his first five collegiate games, but the Puget Sound men's basketball team lost to Pacific Lutheran, 79-65, in Memorial Fieldhouse Friday night.

Johnson totaled 13 points after shooting 5-for-10 from the floor and 3-for-6 from beyond the arc.

Cal Hansen, the reigning Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, kept his foot on the gas by netting 14 points to go with seven boards.

The Lutes (3-0, 3-0 NWC) set the tone early by jumping out to a 21-8 lead in the first half. During that run they made five 3-pointers.

Overall, PLU shot 34.5-percent from distance, while the Loggers (1-4, 1-4 NWC) shot 25-percent. 

These two teams go at it again Saturday, Feb. 6, at 8 p.m. in Memorial Fieldhouse
