TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team begins its Northwest Conference season by hosting Lewis & Clark and Linfield, Sept. 17-18, in Memorial Fieldhouse. Friday's match begins at 7 p.m., and Saturday's contest starts at 6 p.m.

Strong start
The Loggers carry a 6-3 record into the weekend, marking the program's best start since 2016. Five years ago, Puget Sound was 5-3 entering NWC action, and went on to win its first five conference contests.

Tourney titans
Jordan Holman was named to both the Whittier Invitational and Puget Premiere All-Tournament teams. So far this season, Holman leads the Loggers in kills (83) and ranks second in digs (92).
Katherine Carley and
Katelyn Chekian were also named to the Puget Sound Premiere All-Tournament Team. Carley trails only Holman for the team lead in kills (76). She has a team-high .329 attack percentage, and a team-best 23 total blocks. Chekian is the third-leading Logger in kills (61).

Improved efficiency
The Loggers currently hold a .167 attack percentage, which is better than any of Puget Sound's single-season marks from 2017 through spring 2021.

Ace up the sleeve
After totaling 107 aces in 12 matches last spring, Puget Sound is up to 89 aces in nine matches this fall. Holman leads the way with 27 service aces.

Fully bloomed setter
Sarah Blumenfeld has a team-high 169 assists. Her season-best so far is 27 in a five-set win over Pacific Lutheran (Sept. 4). She has a 1,234 assists for her career.

Scouting Lewis & Clark (2-4, 0-0 NWC)
The Pioneers enter the weekend with non-conference wins over Willamette and Mills. The team is hitting .155 through six contests, averaging 14.1 points per set. Izzy Wills leads the team in kills with 60, and Kelsey Parker is close behind (58). Setter Michelle McGinn has 178 assists, and
Ka'anelaokapu'uwai Pakaki-Pias has a team-best 80 digs.

Scouting Linfield (4-2, 0-0 NWC)
The Wildcats take on Willamette Wednesday, Sept. 15, before arrive to Tacoma this Saturday. Linfield won both of its most recent matches against Warner Pacific (Sept. 7) and Mills (Sept. 11). The offense is hitting .159, including 10.1 kills per set. Raelynn Hammock leads Linfield with 68 digs, and Aylea Dixon already has 214 assists. Yssa Alcones and Hammock both have 65 digs.
