Logger football makes its home debut against Cal Lutheran Saturday

SPECTATOR POLICY

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound football team makes its 2021 home debut when the Loggers host Cal Lutheran Saturday, Sept. 18, for a 1 p.m. kickoff in Baker Stadium.

This is a first
Saturday marks the first ever head-to-head game between Puget Sound and Cal Lutheran. The Kingsmen program is still familiar with the greater Tacoma area – Cal Lutheran has kicked off against Pacific Lutheran 26 times.

Home debut
Dating back to the 2014 season, the Loggers are 5-2 in home-openers.

On the edge
Senior Murdock Rutledge is just one touchdown pass shy of tying Hans Fortune '17 for the most touchdown passes in program history (58).

Moving the rock
The Loggers rank second in the Northwest Conference for total offense, averaging 358.5 yards per game. Puget Sound also ranks second in rushing yards per game (143.5).

Getting his feet wet
Freshman defensive back Zerek Waters has two interceptions, both of which came in the season-opening non-conference game at Willamette.

Sack-ya-vong
After notching four sacks in four games last spring, senior defensive lineman Ezekiel Sayavong has two sacks through the first two games this fall.

Feet keep moving
Senior running back Silas Washington enters the weekend as the conference's second leading rusher (243 yards). He is averaging 5.7 yards per carry and has four rushing touchdowns this season. Washington was named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for offense following the season-opener at Willamette.

Scouting Cal Lutheran (2-0)
The Kingsmen have a 30-point win over Southwestern (Tex.) and a 20-point win over Pacific Lutheran under their belt this season. Quarterback Nick Lasher is averaging 296.5 passing yards per game, and he has five touchdowns to one interception. Lasher is spreading the ball well, as three Kingsmen have more than 100 receiving yards this season. Cameron Jones leads the group with 152 receiving yards. Defensively, Cal Lutheran has three takeaways and two sacks.
