FOREST GROVE, Oregon – Ryan Smith's late goal saved the Puget Sound men's soccer team from starting 0-1 in conference action at Pacific, as the Loggers and Boxers reached a 1-1 tie Saturday afternoon.

Pacific claimed a 1-0 lead in the 30
th minute, and the Boxers held that advantage for the next 57 minutes.

In the 87
th minute, Smith buried his third goal of the season into the back of the net.

In the first overtime, Smith and
Lincoln Schell both put shots on frame. The Boxers managed one shot on goal at the end of the period, but
Andrew Matheny was there to make the save.

Matheny came up big again late in the second overtime. A shot by Pacific hit the crossbar, and as the Boxers continue to apply pressure Matheny made his fourth save just before time expired.

Puget Sound remains on the road to take on George Fox Sunday, Sept. 19, at 2:30 p.m.
