Women's soccer set to test unblemished record in Oregon

TACOMA, Washington – After victories against George Fox and Pacific, the Puget Sound women's soccer team looks to keep its record unblemished at Willamette (Oct. 2) and Linfield (Oct. 3) this weekend.

Weekend in review
Kylee Roath's goal in the 76th minute took Puget Sound to a 2-1 victory at George Fox last Saturday (Sept. 25). Puget Sound held a 1-0 lead courtesy of Genny Jilka's goal in the 40th minute, but the Bruins tied the game in the 74th minute. With the Bruins' goal, Chaylea Tome's and the Loggers' shutout streak ended at 633 minutes - seven consecutive games - to start the season. The even 1-1 score, however, was short-lived. Against Pacific, Kiana Serrao's overtime winner gave the Loggers to a 1-0 win over the Boxers. It was Serrao's second goal of the season. Puget Sound has a record of 7-0-1 (3-0-1 NWC) which is good for second in the Northwest Conference standings.

NWC accolades
Kiana Serrao was named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week (offense) for her game-winning goal at Pacific. Genny Jilka and Chaylea Tome have also earned NWC weekly nods this fall.

Everyone is at the table
In addition to Puget Sound's incredible defensive play, the offense has finding taking advantage of its opportunities. Four Loggers have multiple goals this season, lead by three from Genny Jilka and Radhika Webster Schultz. Kylee Roath and Kiana Serrao both have two goals this season.

There's no L in September
Puget Sound is unbeaten in the first eight games the season, marking the program's best start to a season since 2015. Six years ago, the Loggers went 17-0-5. That season ended in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Reunited
The Loggers haven't played the Bearcats and Wildcats since 2019. Puget Sound beat Linfield twice, and tied Willamette twice.
