Logger football returns to Oregon to take on George Fox

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound football team returns to Oregon this Saturday for a Northwest Conference game at George Fox. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
 
Grinding on the ground
Silas Washington far and away leads the NWC in rushing yards with 409. The next closest mark is 274 rushing yards. Washington also has a conference-best six rushing touchdowns. Jackson Dennis, Caleb Puapuaga, Sean Miller, Jr., George Fournier, and Calyb Sauao-to'a have been clearing running lanes for Washington. In 2021, Washington led the NWC in rushing yards (1,235) and rushing touchdowns (16).
 
Joltin' Joe
Freshman wide receiver Joe Gallagher has 19 catches for 155 yards in his last two games, and his 24 catches on the season rank fourth in the NWC.
 
Playing the hits
Sophomore safety Amarian Culpepper leads Puget Sound in tackles with 33.0. He was the team's leading tackler in 2021, totaling 54.0 one year ago.
 
Mental toughness
Puget Sound has committed 19 penalties for 149 yards through four games, whereas its opponents have committed 30 penalties for 313 yards.
 
Bringing the boom
Senior punter Alex Everett has at least one 50-yard punt in each of the last three games. His season-high is a 58-yard boot at Linfield (Oct. 1).

Scouting George Fox (4-1, 1-1 NWC)
The Bruins bounced back from a 13-12 loss at home against Pacific Lutheran (Oct. 1) to beat Willamette, 27-10, on the road (Oct. 8). Quarterback Haiden Schaan leads the NWC in passing yards (1,547) and passing touchdowns (14). His favorite target, Leon Johnson III, leads the conference in receiving yards (749), receptions (33), and receiving touchdowns (9). The Bruins' defense has totaled 16 sacks through five games. Jacob Erickson leads the team with 5.5 sacks. The defense has also forced nine turnovers, seven of which are interceptions.
