The Whits await Puget Sound

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's soccer team is heading east for Northwest Conference games at Whitworth and Whitman, Oct. 22-23.

They meet again
Puget Sound split its weekend at home against the 'Whits' earlier this season (Sept. 24-25), beating Whitman, 3-1, before falling to Whitworth, 2-1. Gabriel Faro White, Liam Elliott, and Ian Cameron each scored their first goals of 2022 that weekend.

Ryan's den
Goalkeeper Ryan Saunders was named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week for defense for the second time this season (Oct. 17). He notched his fifth shutout of the season when the Loggers beat Pacific, 2-0, in Baker Stadium (Oct. 16). Saunders leads the NWC in shutouts and, saves (65), and save percentage (.812), and he ranks second goals-against average (1.08).

Teammates keep pace
Stuart Methner and Graham Hall both scored in the Loggers' 2-0 win over Pacific (Oct. 16). They are tied for the team lead in scoring with four goals, each.

George Fox make-up TBD
The postponed home game against George Fox (Oct. 15) does not yet have a make-up date. The game was postponed due to poor air quality from wildfires in the state.

Scouting Whitman (8-6-1, 5-3-1 NWC)
The Blues enter this weekend with three consecutive wins, including a 3-1 triumph over first-place Willamette (Oct. 15). Noa Taylor leads the team in scoring with five goals, and Sawyer Valero has four goals. The Blues allow 1.20 goals per game, with Bernie Jones drawing a team-high seven starts.

Scouting Whitworth (6-6-2, 4-4-1 NWC)
The Pirates have alternated between a loss and a win in each game since Sept. 24, posting a 3-4 record during that stretch. Whitworth is the third-highest scoring team in the NWC, averaging 1.93 goals per game. The Pirates allow 1.50 goals per game, with Andrew Wolotira drawing the most starts (8) in goal. Beckett Arthur is the team's leading scorer with six goals, and Jamie Rodriguez has six assists.
