TACOMA, Washington – Senior
Izaiah Jerenz had a career-high 122 receiving yards, and freshman
Joe Gallagher had a season-best 108 receiving yards, but the Puget Sound football team lost to Lewis & Clark in overtime, 47-41, in Baker Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore quarterback
Mason Binning completed 19 passes, all of which went to either Jerenz or Gallagher. The wideouts each had a touchdown reception. The Loggers finished with a season-high 429 yards of total offense.

It was the Loggers' first overtime game since the 2019 Homecoming game when Puget Sound beat George Fox, 24-23.

Lewis & Clark held a 16-13 lead at halftime, as neither offense got much going through the game's first 30 minutes. The Loggers were in a 13-0 hole until Jerenz caught a touchdown pass in the back of the end zone midway through the second quarter.

The Logger defense accounted for Puget Sound's other first-half touchdown when
Ezekiel Sayavong came up with a strip-sack, and
Max Arneklev scooped up the loose ball and took it to the house.

The floodgates opened for both teams in the second half. Early in the third quarter,
Silas Washington broke free for a 48-yard touchdown run, cutting Puget Sound's deficit to 23-20.

The Loggers claimed their first lead of the game, 27-26, when
Henry Hernandez punched in a six-yard rushing touchdown late in the third quarter. The Pioneers answered with a touchdown followed by two points, but Binning connected with Gallagher for a 15-yard touchdown to tie the game, 34-34, with 9:15 left in the fourth quarter.

Puget Sound took a 41-34 lead with six minutes left in regulation. On fourth-and-one, Binning kept the ball and sprinted 31 yards down the far sideline for a touchdown. Lewis & Clark answered less than four minutes later, forcing overtime.

Puget Sound got the first possession of overtime, and it turned the ball over on downs. The Pioneers needed just four plays to score and end the game.

The Loggers next play at Whitworth Saturday, Oct. 29.
