TACOMA, Washington – The highly anticipated women's soccer rematch between Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran is set for Wednesday, Oct. 26, in Baker Stadium. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m.
The rematch
Puget Sound beat Pacific Lutheran, 1-0, earlier this season in Parkland (Sept. 22).
Zoe Fowler scored the game-winning goal in the sixth minute, and the Logger defense held PLU to just two shots on target. Wednesday's game is a make-up from last week's contest that was postponed due to poor air quality.
Chay day
Chaylea Tome earned her second Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week (defense) honor of the season, the NWC announced Monday. She earned her ninth shutout of the season as the Loggers beat Lewis & Clark, 2-0, at home (Oct. 22). Tome leads the NWC in saves (45), goals-against average (0.475), and shutouts (9).
Conference landscape
The Loggers and Lutes are tied atop the NWC standings, both with a 9-1-1 record in conference games. George Fox is currently the third-place team with a 6-2-4 NWC record.
No chill for Cholakian
Ava Cholakian is the NWC's second-leading scorer with 14 goals so far this season. She has the most goals in a season by a Logger since Amalia Acorda-Fey scored 14 in 2015.
Scouting Pacific Lutheran (12-1-2, 9-1-1 NWC)
The Lutes are unbeaten since their loss to Puget Sound, going 7-0-1 during that stretch. They scored multiple goals in seven of those eight games. Hannah Cecil is the conference's third-leading scorer with 12 goals, while Julia Causbie has a team-high five assists to go with seven goals. PLU is allowing just 0.60 goals per game.
