TACOMA, Washington – Six Loggers scored in double figures as the Puget Sound men's basketball team began its 2022-23 season with an 88-74 win over Northwest in Memorial Fieldhouse Friday night.

Mussie Teclemariam came away with a double-double, scoring a team-high 14 points and pulling down 10 boards.
Grant Erickson and
Will Pohland both scored 11 points, while
Taj Phillips,
Liam Ruttledge, and Drew Gillette each scored 10 points.
Will Mathews and Dezman Baker nearly joined the party with nine points, each.

Puget Sound a narrow 33-30 lead at halftime, but it wasted little time in pulling away in the second half. The Loggers opened the second half with a 7-2 run, as Teclemariam and Ruttledge combined for six points in the paint during the run.

The Loggrs' lead reached 10 points, 47-37, when Teclemariam scored again the paint. The Loggers' lead never dipped below seven points for the rest of the game.

The Loggers have a road game at The Evergreen State College Tuesday, Nov. 15, before returning home to host Cal Lutheran Friday, Nov. 18.
