TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound men's basketball team heads to the state's capital Tuesday night for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff at The Evergreen State College.
The Loggers began the season with an 88-74 win over Northwest (Nov. 11) in Memorial Fieldhouse. Puget Sound held a tight 33-30 lead at halftime, but the Loggers erupted in the second half.
Mussie Teclemariam led the charge in the second half, scoring all 14 of his points in the game's final 20 minutes. He also added 10 rebounds overall for a double-double.
Teclemariam was one of six Loggers to score in double figures for the Loggers.
Grant Erickson and
Will Pohland both scored 11 points, while
Taj Phillips,
Liam Ruttledge, and Drew Gillette each scored 10 points.
The Loggers beat the Geoducks in their one matchup last year, 93-72. Erickson totaled 19 points and nine boards, while Phillips dished out eight assists.
The Geoducks are 0-2 this season, including a 100-67 loss against Pacific Lutheran (Nov. 8). Jourdan Joseph leads the team in scoring (19.0) through the first two games.
Puget Sound is home this weekend to host Cal Lutheran (Nov. 18) and Montana State University Northern (Nov. 19).
