Doug McArthur Classic returns to Memorial Fieldhouse

TACOMA, Washington – The Doug McArthur Classic returns to Memorial Fieldhouse this weekend, Nov. 18-19, when the Puget Sound men's and women's basketball teams hosts opponents, from southern California, Illinois, Montana, and Parkland, Washington.

The weekend begins with a men's game between the Loggers and Cal Lutheran (Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) tipping off at 5 p.m. Puget Sound is off to a 2-0 start this season after beating Northwest and Evergreen State. Mussie Teclemariam put up a double-double in both games, and he's averaging 16.0 points and 11.0 rebounds entering this weekend. Liam Ruttledge (14.5) and Will Pohland (13.0) also average double digits in scoring, as the Loggers are putting up 91.5 points per game in the early going this season.
 
The Kingsmen are 0-2 this year, with losses against Illinois Tech and Master's. Tommy Griffitts and Devon Lewis both average 12.0 points per game.
 
The second game Friday (7 p.m.) is a women's contest between Pacific Lutheran and Wheaton (Ill.) (College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin).
 
The Logger women, ranked No. 24 in the nation by D3hoops.com, get their shot at Wheaton Saturday at 5 p.m. Puget Sound is 2-0 entering this weekend, with road wins at Warner Pacific and Multnomah. Katie Minnehan came away with a triple-double in the Loggers' overtime win at Multnomah, scoring 14 points, pulling down 10 boards, and swiping 12 steals. The Loggers attempted more than 40 3-pointers in each game.
 
Kennedy Brown is averaging 20 points per game for the Loggers. Paige Gerhart filled the stat sheet last weekend, averaging 11.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.
 
The Thunder enter the weekend with a 2-1 record. Caroline Sikkink is the team's leading scorer with 16.7 points per game.
 
The Doug McArthur Classic concludes with the Logger men tipping off against Montana State University – Northern (Frontier Conference, NAIA). The 4-0 Lights are averaging 99.5 points per game, while committing just 9.3 turnovers per game.
